With a pedigree of designing for such brands as Coach, Converse, Lucky Brand, Rock & Republic and for New York-based fashion designers Carolina Herrera, Isaac Mizrahi, Behnaz Sarafpour, and John Varvatos, Blake Kurahara has nothing to prove about his talent. However, he’s also responsible for the groundbreaking use of engineering and production techniques to create texture and detail for KATA Eyewear that reinvented the way eyewear design is approached today.
That said, he was still searching for a style that he could wear himself and call his own. His creation of a prototype that was requested by a friend led him to develop a complete line of frames that feature and inner silhouette within an unexpectedly fresh outer shape. This combination allows for the introduction of the contemporary contrasted against traditional style. This also allows for the bridging between artistic and business worlds.
This combination yields cutting edge style that is still comfortable and familiar. It is not out of place in any environment, allowing its owner to easily transition between worlds while easily fitting in.
